With the arrival of January, we have entered the New Year. The excitement of the New Year, as well as the entire festive charm, remain active within. So maybe one more celebration will charge up the New Year a little more. January is full of many opportunities. After all, it brings a whole new season of interesting festivals at the beginning of the year itself. Lohri- 13th January- Bonfires, Music, And Good Food

North India’s People wear new clothes and welcome the warmer days by lighting up the bonfire and taking rounds around it. Popcorn, gajak, and revdi are savored with loved ones over the Dhol beats.

Makar Sankranti- 14th January- International Kite Festival – The Kite Flying Day

North India’s Makar Sankranti where the Punjabi folk festival has become the imagery of it. Flocks of tourists set their eyes toward the sky. Thousands of colorful high rising and smoothly flying kites decorate the sky. Competitions in kite flying are also a part of the festival.

Republic Day – 26th January -The Constitution Day


One of the major national festivals of India, Republic Day is celebrated every year to acknowledge the Constitution of India, which was founded in 1950. The spectacular Republic Day parade that marches down to the central Rajpath avenue, and features the three divisions of the armed forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) is a sight worth witnessing.

Pongal- 14th to 17th January Indian-style Thanksgiving

Celebrated down south, Pongal is one of the major festivals of January in India, which is equivalent to Thanksgiving. Making rangolis (kolam), cooking the Pongal dish, which is made out of boiled milk and rice, family get-together, and dancing are some of the reasons why you must become a part of this festive occasion. So, even though you might not belong to this part of India, the locals will make you feel at home all the more!
